SEP 23, 2004 (newstodate): Originally slated for June this year, the certification of Envirotainer's new-generation temparature-controlled container, the RHN e1, is still pending.
-We are in the final stages of the Airworthiness Certification, and all generic validation tests have shown very positive results, says Magnus Welander, Envirotainer CEO.
-We have faced delays in the development project due to additional requirements from the airworthiness authorities and from technical improvements that have been introduced, but we expect the unit to be commercially available in the first half of next year.
-As the leader in this market niche, and as a provider of not merely a manufactured unit but a service based on lease of containers and cold chain management services, we must take a much wider quality approach on the total security and quality of the solution along its full life cycle. This also means that we have to and do spend more time on maintenance planning, calibration set-up, etc, than a pure manufacturer like some companies currently looking at similar solutions in the market place, normally would, says Mr Welander.
-Therefore we also intend to introduce this new container generation into the market in a planned and limited approach, by working closely with the lead customers and chosen major supply chain partners.
-Any new technology demands new training and learning, and we focus more on ensuring that this system runs smoothly from day one in the market than a quick and wide launch, he says.
