SEP 08, 2004 (newstodate): During the first three months of this year, members of the Arab Air Carriers Organisation saw cargo volumes up by 23.9 percent, totalling 353,939 tonnes.
Cargo growth rates thus overtook those of the passenger volumes that were up 21.1 percent during the same period.
The member airlines' international cargo grew the most, up 25.5 percent to 335,320 tonnes, while domestic cargo loads remained virtually inchanged, up 0.7 percent to 18,619 tonnes.
Airline members include Afriqiyah Airways, Air Algerie, EgyptAir, Emirates, Gulf Air, Iraqi Airways, Kuwait Airways, Libyan Arab Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Oman Air, Palestinian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sudan Airways,
Syrian Arab Airlines, Trans Mediterranean, Tunis Air, and Yemen Airways.
