SEP 28, 2004 (newstodate): Aeroflot has taken a further step towards becoming a membver of the SkyTeam Alliance.
An agreement confirming that Aeroflot is meeting the requirements on joining the alliance was signed on September 24 by Aeroflot's director general Valery Okulov and Air France's president Jean-Cyril Spinetta.
Until the end of 2005, Aeroflot is to conduct negotiations and establish cooperation with SkyTeam participants in a number of key spheres including branding, schedule coordination, code-sharing, marketing, advertising and distribution, bonus programs for frequently traveling passengers, waiting rooms for high class passengers, information technologies, harmonization of standards/quality guarantee, technical services/maintenance and other issues.
Aeroflot's expected entry into the SkyTeam is now expected to be behind the postponement of the airline's plans for privatisation as alliance membership will enhance the stock value of the company.
