AUG 25, 2004 (newstodate): Southgate, the project for implementing a major joint upgrade of the air traffic management of Adzerbaijan, Armenian and Georgian air space, is now in its third and final stage.
Southgate III was launched in March this year, following on a process that started in 1998 with a project by the Swedish state to support Georgia's CAA and provider of air navigation services.
-The total projects includes the setup and administration of civial aviation regulations, development of air traffic management systems, and finally Human Resources regarding management systems and development, says Par Eriksson, project leader, Swedish CAA.
-Our basic approach is coaching staff in the three Caucasian states, with experts from the Swedish CAA and Estonia's CAA, earlier also trained by us, acting as coaches and supervisors in the projects, he says.
The Southgate III is expected to be completed by end of 2006.
