AUG 03, 2004 (newstodate): Sweden's airfreight market performed "well", though not "excellently" during the first six months of this year.
-Imports outweighed exports, driven by US and Far Eastern imports, says Mats Grandin, Kuehne & Nagel Sweden airfreight manager.
According to Mr Grandin, US imports primarily consist of machinery and industry commodities, while imports from the Far East are predominantly consumer goods.
-As Sweden is still in the aftermath of the summer holiday season it is too early to make predictions about the latter part of 2004, but we obviously expect US imports to continue play a leading role alongside Far Eastern imports. In total, the Swedish airfreight market probably grew modestly in H1 by between five and 10 percent, Grandin says.
