AUG 25, 2004 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo has set its mind on achieving profitable growth and raising the company's value.
"Excellence + Growth" is the name of the program comprising "a comprehensive package" of measures in responding on the offensive to structural change in the airfreight industry.
-The program is designed to turn Lufthansa Cargo into a process-oriented organisation. The object of the companys process management is to intensify its customer focus, slim down its internal structures and generally speed up its processes, the company says in a release.
So far the only tangible measure yet published from the "package" is a 10 percent jobs cut primarily in the administrative areas, equivalent to 480 man years, to be realised by 2006.
Already by the end of this year, some 150 jobs will go through natural fluctuation.
-In face of an extremely volatile market environment coupled with aggressive competitors and substantial currency effects, the measures we are taking are essential for achieving lasting, profitable growth. With "Excellence + Growth", we are aiming for a profit of 233 million euros by 2006, says Jean-Peter Jansen, Lufthansa Cargo AG chariman.
