AUG 10, 2004 (newstodate): Chinese capital may now find its way into European civil aviation as Hainan Airlines has reportedly confirmed that it considers taking part in the bid for Hungarian carrier Malev.
The drive for privatisation of Malev will open next week, and the government has put 99.9 percent of the stocks on a one-off sale in an effort to rid itself of Malev's debts, and create potentials for Malev's long-awaited expansion.
Malev and Hainan Airlines are already cooperating closely on a new code-shared flight between Budapest and Beijing, and have aired plans for a joint European cargo hub at Budapest.
