AUG 23, 2004 (newstodate): Exel Logistics Finland is seeing the market growing and expect to add staff during this year.
-So far we have met all our targets in 2004, and we see a positive development in all our business areas including air, sea cargo and logistics, says Markku Pulliainen, Excel Logistics Finland managing director.
-We are satisfied with the increase in cargo uplift capacity from Finland, where especially the Far Eastern markets are now quite well served with even daily connections to destinations like Bangkok, Beijing and Shanghai, he says.
-In the other direction we will need a re-introduction of cargo capacity to serve the US markets. Finnair Cargo earlier operated an own freighter service to New York via Gothenburg, and we are keen to see if they intend to reinstate this service from Autumn, says Mr Pulliainen.
Mr Pulliainen would like like to see a direct North Atlantic service into not just New York, but also to e.g. Chicago.
-As the market is now we are forced to truck airfreight for Lufthansa or KLM Cargo's flights out of Europe, and then again truck the cargo till it reaches its final destinations. It would be preferable to have more direct ex-Finland cargo uplift, he says.
