AUG 26, 2004 (newstodate): Singapore Airlines did some heavy "power shopping" this week, announcing a deal with Boeing worth USD 7.35 billion, including the cost of spares and spare engines.
The deal, currently in the form of a LoI, comprises delivery of up to 31 Boeing B777-300ER aircraft.
SIA today operates 55 B777s, and has another four B777s on firm order. With this latest order, the number of B777s in the SIA fleet will eventually reach 77 aircraft.
The airline says the decision was reached "in keen competition with Airbus".
