JUL 27, 2004 (newstodate): Scandinavian freight forwarding and logistics provider Wilson Logistics has become the first company to convert the global standard UN EDIFACT to Air AMS messages.
The facility has been developed and implemented by Descartes-owned Tradevision's EDI Air AMS service.
Since last week, Wilson Logistics has been able to upload its global production of House Waybills to the TradeVision Air AMS Message Switch for processing of messages to US Customs in compliance with the new demands on pre-manifestation of air cargo touching on US soil.
-TradeVision's Air AMS Message Switch includes all parameters for the Air AMS procedures, so by sending all our house waybills to TradeVision regardless of destination of the shipments we can be sure that even the FROB - Freight Remaining On Board - cases will be considered. Also the fact that TradeVision signs off by sending us status update on all Air AMS shipments will mean a significant improvement of our customer service, says Hakan Nilsson, Wilson Logistics CIO.
So far, all other forwarders and logistics providers still rely on IATA's Cargo IMP format.
