JUL 21, 2004 (newstodate): Siberia Airlines' order for 50 new Russian Regional Jets is a firm boost for Sukhoi's aircraft development.
The order fulfills Sukhoi's requirements, aired in May, for "between 40 and 60 RRJ orders" to secure the program's continued development.
The order from Siberia is estimated to be worth around one bio US dollars, with deliveries to start in 2007.
Taking part in the RRJ program are Sukhoi, Boeing, Ilyushin and Yakovlev.
Sukhoi claims to be in talks with some 40 airline operators around the world over the RRJ that will comply with all western standards for aircraft in the segment of 55-95 seats.
