JUL 21, 2004 (newstodate): Singapore Airlines has announced a series of changes in services from this autumn's traffic programme.
Among the news is a new weekly non-stop route from Singapore to Cape Town, South Africa, from Octover 31.
With flying times at 12 hours out of Singapore and 11:40 out of Cape Town, the new route will cut up to two hours and a quarter off the current travel time.
With three additional services to Brisbane a week, the Airline will serve the Australian city 17 times weekly. This means that the airline will fly to the Southwest Pacific 92 times every week.
In Asia, SIA will add two more weekly flights to Guangzhou, increasing frequencies to the Southern Chinese city from five to seven times weekly. This is intended to cater to the anticipated increase in travel demand with the opening of the new airport in Guangzhou.
SIA will also deploy larger aircraft on two scheduled services to Hanoi.
With effect from 31 October 2004, Singapore Airlines will suspend its three-times weekly B747-400 service to Madrid and plan to replace them with codeshare services of Star Alliance partners through the airline's other European gateways.
