JUL 21, 2004 (newstodate): After its planned experts meeting on July 15 with technical presentations by Airbus and Boeing, CSA has announced its decision to take in four medium-range aircraft on a lease arrangement in addition to buying 12 new aircraft.
This is part of the airline's aggressive fleet expansion program that will bring the total number of aircraft from currently 28 to more than 60 by 2014.
The proposed lease arrangement will run for three to five years, and the aircraft will enter the CSA fleet by next year.
Airbus and Boeing will compete for the orders with Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, respectively, with Boeing enjoying the benefits from being currently the airline's main provider of aircraft.
Firm tenders will be in by August already.
