JUL 26, 2004 (newstodate): Turkmenistan's Turkmenkhowayollary has taken possession of its second Boeing 717-200 aircraft this year.
The two aircraft were purchased under a USD64.8 mio contract signed in May 2003, and will be deployed for use on the country's domestic routes.
Another contract was signed in July 2003 for delivery of a Boeing 767-300 aircraft to be delivered later this year. This aircraft will operate VIP flights for the Turkmen government.
Turkmenistan was the first post-Soviet state to purchase Boeing aircraft, and the fleet now comprises four Boeing-757, three Boeing 737 and five Boeing-717-200 aircraft.
