JUL 30, 2004 (newstodate): Air Namibia has finally been relieved of a major burden as a sales contract for the airline's Boeing 747-400 combi aircraft has finally been inked.
The aircraft has significantly contributed to the airline's debts, and all proceedings from the sale will be directed towards creditors.
Sources says the buyer is a Middle East royal family, who will use the aircraft for own and VIP purposes.
The aircraft will remain on the route to Frankfurt route until the end of August. It will then be replaced by a MD 11 aircraft, leased from SWISS Airlines.
