JUN 10, 2004 (newstodate): The cargo traffic from Scandinavia to Africa on IATA carriers is increasing significantly, latest CASS figures show.
In April, Denmark generated a total of 352 tonnes IATA cargo, up 94 percent y-o-y. For January-April the total volume reached 1,111 tonnes, up five percent on last year.
In April Sweden generated a total of 282 tonnes of IATA cargo destined for Africa, up 26.7 percent. And in January-April the total was up 47.3 percent to 1,190 tonnes.
Norway contributes little to the Scandinavian total. In April Norway generated 38 tonnes of IATA cargo, down 7.9 percent, and for the period January-April, the total was 193 tonnes, up 2.8 percent on last year.
Thus Scandinavia generated a combined total of 671 tonnes of IATA cargo for Africa in March,, while the volumes for January-March were 2,949 tonnes, representing a strong growth.
