JUN 14, 2004 (newstodate): SAS-owned Latvian carrier airBaltic has no plans to integrate its cargo activities in Lithuania with SAS Cargo.
airBaltic opened its hub at Vilnius, Lithuania in June with flights to Berlin, Cologne, Copenhagen, Dublin and Hamburg, and will add, from August 15, routes from Vilnius to Helsinki, Oslo, Tallinn, Vienna and Warsaw.
-We are two independent companies and while we cooperate fully in a number of ways we intend to maintain our own individual cargo sales organisations in Vilnius, says Haralds Treimanis, airBaltic cargo manager.
Mr Treimanis says the two companies each their individual strategy in the market, craeting the need to remain separate organisations.
Neither of the airlines have their own cargo handling in Vilnius, having separate contracts with Lithuanian Airlines.
