JUN 14, 2004 (newstodate): Belgrade will become a regional centre of western Balkans transport network, ministers of transport from western Balkan countries have agreed.
Among the signatories to the agreement reached last week are Serbia-Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia, while the agreement was also signed by Commissioner Loyola de Palacio on behalf of the EU Commission.
A range of projects have been highlighted to be included in the work process starting now.
Among these are the modernisation of airports and ports in Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik, Nis and Drac.
The European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will finance the major part of the realisation of the projects, estimated to costs around 16 bio euro.
