MAY 03, 2004 (newstodate): The world's longest air route will be inaugurated on June 28, when Singapore Airlines start its non-stop route between Singapore and New York.
The route spans a distance of more than 16,600 km and will be operated with the company's Airbus A340-500 that will require about 18 hours in each direction, saving its 181 passengers up to four hours in travel time, as compared to the existing one-stop services.
