MAY 28, 2004 (newstodate): Geopost, a subsidiary of La Poste, has acquired all assets in parcel and logistics companies owned by Post Sweden in the Baltic countries, Poland and Russia.
The assets in the Baltic countries include Post Sweden's ownership in DPD franchise operators BLS-Eesti, BLS-Latvia, BLS-Lithuania.
The assets in Poland comprise Post Sweden's ownership of Masterlink Express and its bussidiary Air Cargo Poland, franchise operator for DPD.
Post Sweden's ownership in Russian companies Armadillo and Armadillo Business Parcel will also be taken over by Geopost.
Post Sweden's decision to sell off its stakes in the Baltic, Polish and Russian companies reflect a new strategy to consolidate in the Swedish and Nordic markets, retreating from its former strategy of expansion into neighbouring postal markets.
