MAY 21, 2004 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo is seeing good results from its freighter service between New York and Helsinki, launched on April 24.
-The market response has indeed been very positive, and the weekly non-stop service is operated by World Airways using a DC-10F offering a cargo capacity of 60 tonnes, says Timo Riihimakki, Finnair Cargo marketing director.
-In addition to effective point-to-point services, the new freighter provides transfer connections beyond New York to a number of destinations in North America, while the east-bound flight offers onward connections to Russia, the Baltic markets and Central Europe via our cargo hub at Helsinki, he says.
