MAY 12, 2004 (newstodate): Latvian airport Riga Airport is in the midst of a surge in air cargo volumes.
During the period January-April, the airport has seen its total cargo volumes up by 128 percent, to 4,240 tonnes against 1,859 tonnes in 2003.
The growth has accelerated since February when volumes were up by 14.2 percent, further expanding in March by 238.1 and in April by 195.4 percent.
In 2003, the year ended with a total of 13,534 tonnes, representing a 105.7 percent growth over 2002.
