MAY 11, 2004 (newstodate): For April, the combined results from KLM Cargo and Air France Cargo indicate a drop in joint cargo load factor as capacity rose 12.9 percent while RTK increased by 10.8 percent only.
Thus the cargo load factor was down 1.3 percentage points to 67.7 percent.
The decrease can be attributed to Air France Cargo as its cargo traffic rose 7.8 percent while capacity grew by 14.7 percent. The load factor thus declined by 4.1 points to 63.4 percent.
Conversely, KLM Cargo fared well with cargo capacity up 10.5 percent on last year as the result of the introduction of a new Boeing 747-400ER freighter.
KLM Cargo's cargo traffic was up 14.6 percent, leading to a load factor improved by 2.6 points to 73.5 percent.
