APR 14, 2004 (newstodate): From April 20, Russian carrier Transaero will start operating a new route between Moscow and Aktau in the Mangistauskaya Region, and from May 2, a route between Moscow and Anadyur in the Chukotka Region will follow.
The twice-weekly route to Aktau will be operated with Boeing 737 aircraft, while the twice-weekly flights to Anadyr will be operated with Boeing 767 aircraft, providing the route with its first wide-body capacity.
Transaero, set up in 1991, claims to be the first Russian airline to be headed by a woman, Olga Pleshakova, and was awarded "Best Russian Airline" by the MITT-2004 in Moscow.
