APR 19, 2004 (newstodate): Singapore Airlines has announced decision to sell eight og its 28 Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft to two unnamed airline customers.
The aircraft will be converted into freighters, SQ says in a statement. The first two will be delivered in 2006, two will follow in 2007, and one in 2008.
Singapore Airlines' fleet currently consists of 83 aircraft, including 28 B747-400s, 52 B777s and three A340-500s. In addition, 20 aircraft are on firm order, including eight B777s, two A340-500s which are due to enter the fleet later this month, and 10 A380 aircraft, of which the airline will be the launch customer in early 2006. SIA has also placed options for 45 further aircraft deliveries.
