APR 29, 2004 (newstodate): SAS Cargo is expecting a significant effect from the EU enlargement by May 1.
-We did foresee this development at its earliest stage, and SAS Cargo was actually the first western company to introduce a freighter service into the Baltics, says Peter Groenlund, SAS Cargo's outgoing CEO and president.
-Especially the countries offering the benefits of a highly educated labour force and comparatively cheap labour costs will be able to attract localisation by foreign manufacturing companies, and the demands for airfreight capacity will grow correspondingly, he says.
Among the new EU countries attracting special interest from SAS Cargo is Poland, and SAS Cargo is expected to make further moves in this market before long.
