APR 14, 2004 (newstodate): A contract has now been signed between the Lithuanian forwarding company Arijus and the Lithuanian state agency for the take-over of former Lithuanian Airlines subsidiary, Air Lithuania.
-Even so, the process is still not entirely completed as the finalisation still remains. This will probably follow within a month or so, says Armis Valiulis, Arijus general manager.
Mr Valiulis expects more details of the plans for the future of Air Lithuania will be available by June.
The focus will remain on passenger transportation, but air cargo is still considered as a contribution to the airline's future revenues. Potentials are, however, limited by the nature of the airline's current airline fleet of ATR-42 aircraft.
Among Mr Valiulis' visions for future new destinations are new routes from Lithuania to CIS countries including Russia and Ukraine.
