APR 06, 2004 (newstodate): Orebro Airport, Sweden, is seeing good prospects for air cargo operations in this year's H1, but does not expect to beat last year's records.
-We had a booming year last year, not least due to ad-hoc charter operations including some 150 flights for Volvo, says Haakan Nilsson, Orebro Airport cargo manager.
-But so far the start of 2004 compares nicely to that of 2003 as the first part of last year was not exactly very strong, he says.
So far Orebro Airport has seen five or six IL-76 commercial operations but the volume seems to be declining as most operators have found alternatives to this aircraft that does not meet EU's current noise regulations.
Among this year's special projects were four flights for ABB lifting equipment for the reconstruction of Iraq into Dubai under a UN contract.
