APR 16, 2004 (newstodate): Norway's total volumes of export air cargo will grow by 3.5 percent until 2009, says an analysis of European air cargo markets.
According to the analysis, Norway generated a total of 69,888 tonnes of air cargo in 2003, and this will grow to 85,774 tonnes in 2009.
In 2003, Norway's single largest export airfreight market was Asia/Pacific taking 65.1 percent of total volumes. This comprises massive export of Norwegian fresh salmon to countries in the region, mainly Japan.
Second came the North Atlantic market with 17.8 percent, and Europe with 11.9 percent.
Norway is thus the slowest growing airfreight market in the Nordic region, according to the analysis that estimates Denmark to grow by 4.7 percent, Sweden by 5.3 percent, and Finland by 5.5 percent per year during 2003-2009.
