APR 29, 2004 (neewstodate): Lufthansa Cargo expects to increase its shares in the East European air cargo markets, set for growth after the EU Enlarmegement.
-Lufthansa Cargo expects enormous growth in the East European accession countries. Today, after China, Eastern Europe is already the fastest growing market for the Lufthansa Group of companies, the company says in a statement.
-After the national airlines, Lufthansa Cargo is the preferred carrier for air freight in all the new EU countries in Eastern, South-Eastern and Southern Europe.
-Lufthansa Cargo believes that, as a result of the EU Eastern expansion, import and export volumes will rise sharply - and thus also the need for logistical services.
-For the air freight market, in the next few years Lufthansa Cargo expects a market growth of between five and six percent in the Central and Eastern European countries. There, Lufthansa Cargo wants to grow by around ten percent, the company says.
