APR 01, 2004 (newstodate): Under the current fleet rollover plan, initiated from September, 2003, Lufthansa Cargo will retire its Boeing 747-200F fleet fully during 2004-2005 and start selling off the eight aircraft from June this year.
Under a deal with Icelandic ACMI provider, Air Atlanta this company will take three of the Boeings with a provision to charter back the aircraft for use by Lufthansa Cargo on a flexible basis.
Five MD-11 passenger aircraft are currently being converted to freighters by Boeing/SASCO at Singapore, and after their enrollment by Lufthansa Cargo the company will have a total of 19 aircraft of this type.
