APR 23, 2004 (newstodate): In 2003, Norway generated a total of 59,941 tonnes of export air cargo in IATA carriers.
This total was unchanged against 2002, and 49.4 percent of this was destined for China, Japan and Korea - main consumers of Norway's prime export airfreight article, fresh salmon.
According to a market analysis for Lufthansa Cargo, Norway generated a total of 69,888 tonnes of air cargo in 2003, counting IATA and non-IATA carriers.
Thus non-IATA carriers lifted a total of 9,947 tonnes of air cargo out of Norway in 2003.
Of this volume, Schenker Northern Cargo's twice-weekly Aeroflot DC-10 freighter took the lion's share, while the remainder was lifted on a range of non-scheduled, non-IATA cargo charter in- and outside the salmon export business.
