APR 19, 2004 (newstodate): Munich Airport has become the first European airport to be approved for Airbus A380 operations, making it a Category F airport.
Lufthansa participated in the USD 1.5 billion project at Munich, and the airline will take in its first of 15 Airbus Megajumbos by 2007.
Work is also progressing at London Heathrow for upgrading the terminals to accomodate the A380, and a new three-story pier will be completed by 2005 in Terminal 3.
The new Terminal 5 at London Heartrow will open by 2008, and will offer five A380 facilities, to be increased to 14 in 2011 as the A380 gains pace in world civil aviation.
