APR 27, 2004 (newstodate): Air Atlanta's take-over from UPS of the aircraft maintenance facility at Shannon earlier this year will lead to the inclusion of more aircraft types and more staff.
So far the company has performed heavy maintenance on Boeing 727 and 737 aircraft, but maintenance on Boeing 757, 767 and 747 will be added over the coming months, requiring recruiting of 30 new staff this year, 30 more in 2005, with prospects for even more as business develops.
The Shannon facility will provide maintenance services to Air Atlanta Aviation Group companies and third party airlines.
Group companies include Air Atlanta Icelandic operating Boeing 747, 757 and 767s; Air Atlanta Europe operating Boeing 757, 767, 747; and Islandsflug (Iceland) operating Boeing 737s.
Associate company Excel Airways operates a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft and a number of Boeing 757 and 767s from Air Atlanta.
In addition, the company will continue to provide support to UPS on their Boeing 727 fleet for the next two years.
