APR 16, 2004 (newstodate): Aeroflot's cargo GSA for Lithuania, forwarding company AD REM has agreed with Aeroflot to keep the Lithuanian cargo moving on road feeder service despite the cancellation of Aeroflot's flights to Vilnius since this summer schedule.
-The road feeder service between Riga and Vilnius will add one day for the export shipments from Lithuania to reach Moscow. But on the other hand the customers will be offered additional capacity as Aeroflot is now operating TU-154M to Riga instead of TU-134 on its route between Mowcow and Riga, says Audrius Lukosevicius, Ad REM Lithuania airfreight and oceanfreight executive.
-This can also be an even faster option for import shipments to reach Vilnius. Many agents and shippers were avoiding use of Aeroflot's service to Vilnius because of long delays in the transit airport in Moscow due to the limited cargo space on the TU-134, he says.
According to Mr Lukosevicius, the Aeroflot destinations most in demand by Lithuanian shippers include the main airports of Russia, CIS, and Far East.
