APR 20, 2004 (newestodate): EU's TAIEX unit has offered its assistance to the new EU member states in supervising the entry into operation of their new EU Border Inspection Posts.
EU's offer comprises the assistance by veterinary exports from the current BIPs for periods stretching from shortly before till some weeks after the new member states' admission.
In concrete terms, the offer includes four weeks placement of representatives from more than 30 current member state BIPs at more than 40 new EU BIPs.
New BIPS are based on approval according to the EU requirements, and it is estimated that by the time of accession, around 40 new BIPs will be approved, including posts at international airports in the new member states.
