MAR 03, 2004 (newstodate): For February, KLM Cargo reports its cargo traffic increased by 11 percent compared to last year on eight percent higher capacity.
The capacity increase was mainly due to the introduction of the third B747-400ER Freighter.
The overall cargo load factor improved by 2.0
percentage points to 75.5 percent.
KLM Cargo's positive performance was mainly driven by the Asia Pacific routes that continued to show a significant year-on-year improvement with traffic up 32 percent on 24 percent higher capacity mainly because of the third freighter.
Load factor on this route area increased by 4.8 percentage points to 85.3 percent.
The North Atlantic traffic and capacity decreased by seven percent. This resulted in a load factor of 74.3 percent, which is virtually at the same level as last year.
The ex-Europe cargo traffic continues to be under pressure, says KLM Cargo.
