MAR 01, 2004 (newstodate): IATA's monthly international traffic figures for January 2004 show a growth by 11.2 percent in world air cargo.
-The 11.2 percent freight traffic increase in 2004 is especially positive considering that the freight growth in January 2003 was the most significant during 2003. Most of the regions benefited from healthy freight traffic, with only North America showing a decrease of 4.9 percenet, year-on-year, says IATA in a comment on the statistics.
European freight volumes were up by eight percent, S America 22.6, Asia Pacific 13.9, M East 31.8, and Africa 30.9 percent measured in FTKs.
For 2004 IATA has estimated a growth in traffic at 4.4 percent.
