MAR 09, 2004 (newstodate): A new third-generation ATM system capable of handling up to 500 flights simultaneously has been implemented at Bulgaria's Sofia Airport.
Delivered by Alenia Marconi Systems, the ATM system represents a significant step in the modernisation of the country's aviation infrastructure, and meets all requirements of Eurocontrol.
The implementation also forms the platform for Bulgaria's efforts to become accepted as a regional air traffic control centre, serving the Balkan countries' airspace.
