MAR 01, 2004 (newstodate): In February, Billund Airport, Denmark, saw its cargo volumes up by 19.8 percent to 3.383 tonnes.
Both import and exports contributed to the increase, by 29.3 and 13.7 percent, respectively.
For January-February, the growth is 14.5 percent, totalling 6.547 tonnes of air cargo.
-The significant increase in cargo imports is generated primarily by the Far Eastern markets, and by imports from the USA, says Jan Ditlevsen, Billund Airport manager cargo centre.
-The growth further points to the need for a freighter service into Billund. We have been examining several projects, but we still depend on the commitment from an airline operator to achieve a break-through, he says.
