FEB 05, 2004 (newstodate): Ukraine International Airlines saw its cargo volumes up by 30 percent in 2003, and expect further increase through 2004.
These expectations are also driven by the results from the weekly freighter operations between Kiev and Vienna since November 2003 in cooperation with Austrian Airlines Cargo.
The AN-12 aircraft used on the route takes around 10-12 tonnes of air cargo out of Vienna for Kiev, while loads from Kiev are around three tonnes per flight, the company says.
Most of the cargo flow comprises air cargo from North America, South-East Asia and Japan, destined for Ukraine.
