FEB 04, 2004 (newstodate): With effect from March 28, Lufthansa Cargo and DHL plan to set up joint operations on five international routes.
The new jointly operated routes comprise a East Midlands-Cincinnati route, a Brussels-New York route, a route from Cologne to Bahrain, Singapore and Delhi, a route from East Midlands via Cologne to Hong Kong, Sharjah, Cologne, Bergamo and East Midlands, and the route, operated since July, 2003, from Cologne via East Midlands to New York.
Each route will be served by four to five flights per week, with Lufthansa Cargo's MD-11F aircraft with the two parties sharing capacity.
The new deal optimises DHL's global network as it links the company's East Midlands, Cologne and Brussels hubs directly into intercontinental connections.
The new joint operations are an extension of the joint venture between Deutsche Post and Lufthansa Cargo since June 2000, Aerologic.
