FEB 09, 2004 (newstodate): The Danish CAA has issued a letter warning Danish and continental airports to look for a security declaration accompanying transfer air cargo.
-Please take notice that the new EU Security Regulation has been fully implemented in Denmark, which means that a smaller percent of cargo from "Known Consignors" must be screened before taken onboard an aircraft, the letter says.
-Cargo from Denmark must always be followed by a Declaration stating the security status of the cargo. The Declaration from Regulated Agents can only state the cargo as coming from "Known Consignor" or not. Therefore please act with extreme caution when accepting airfreight delivered to your station from Denmark.
-We draw your attention to the fact that only cargo delivered to your station from handling companies approved by the Danish Civil Aviation Administration can be considered as Screened Cargo, the letter states.
The letter is further strengthening the efforts by the Danish CAA to force Danish air cargo business to make sure that the shipments are actually processed at the airports that the documents state as point of departure, rather than being taken in by off-airport cargo terminals for trucking into continental airport as "ready for carriage" and mistakenly considered security screened.
-Cargo delivered to your station directly from Regulated Agents in Denmark has not been subjected to security screening despite the airwaybill mentioning BLL or CPH or any other Danish Airport as "Airport of Departure", the Danish CAA warns.
