FEB 02, 2004 (newstodate): In 2003, ARINC claims to have consolidated its position in the market providing aeronautical satellite communications for the aviation industry.
The total number of aircraft using ARINC's satellite services grew almost 20 percent in 2003, with new customers coming from a cross-section of international and regional airlines, large private corporations, and military users, the company says.
Satellite-delivered services are a growing segment, driven by new passenger amenities such as SMS text messaging, e-mail, and on-board telephony, as well as flight crew operational and safety services provided by satellites virtually anywhere on earth.
