DEC 20, 2004 (newstodate): Prospects for Swedish airport Kallax may brighten in 2005 after years of unfulfilled expectations.
On Friday Atlas Air performed its first operation at the airport, lifting a full Boeing 747 freighter load of steel plates from Sweden to Kuwait.
Expectations are high that this will augur a series of operations as steel is increasingly becoming a commodity in high demand. In the short term perspective, another Atlas Air flight series of five or six operations during the first months of 2005 has reportedly been announced.
According to Kallax Cargo, negotiations also continue with exporters of fresh Norwegian salmon for flights from Kallax to the Far East, notably Japan.
