DEC q6, 2004 (newstodaet): Austrian Airlines Cargo prefers own offices to GSAs in its core E European markets.
-We do have GSAs in certain West European markets like Spain and France that do not produce large volumes of freight for us, but in the East European countries we prefer own offices, says Franz Zoechbauer, AUA VP Cargo.
-Being a niche carrier with a high profile in the E European markets, we rely on offices, staffed with local people with a profound intimacy with their markets and its specific conditions, he says.
Mr Zoechbauer says the split in the East European markets between imports and exports is roughly 70/30, and AUA primarily competes with other international airlines by its regional expertise that processes shipments through border and customs control in a very short time, and finely tuned road feeder services.
