DEC 08, 2004 (newstodate): Afghanistan has secured a USD30 million loan from ADB to repair its molested civil aviation infrastructure.
Runways at Bamyan, Chaghcharan, Faizabad, Farah, Maimana, Qalai-Naw, and Zaranj will be rebuilt, while new passenger terminals will be built or renovated.
The loan will also allow a staff training package for Afghanistan's Civil Aviation Center, which will produce about 180 graduates in two years.
The reconstruction of an efficient civil aviation infrastructure is considered crucial to the country's continued development, and for confirming the new government's reach into the entire country.
