NOV 22, 2004 (newstodate): Stockholm Arlanda Airport has named Karsten Bjarbo cargo manager from January 1.
With the new position, the airport hopes to stem the continuous decline in cargo volumes through 2004, marked by a drop by 25.5 percent to a total of 58,866 tonnes during January-September.
While inaccurate SAS Cargo statistics may play a role in the picture, the forwarding industry has also seen global logistics companies trucking air cargo out of Sweden for consolidation at continental airport, including Copenhagen Airport, for onward transportation.
Stockholm Skavsta and Gothenburg Landvetter airports have also sliced bits and parcels off Arlanda's former catchment area.
