NOV 25, 2004 (newstodate): NATO has reportedly asked the Czech Republic to take over management of Kabul International Airport.
If the plan is agreed, Czech staff will take over responsibility for operating the airport from the current multi-national NATO command by October, 2006.
The period of command will be six months.
Kabul International Airport, which was badly damaged during decades of war, has been serving as a transport corridor for the NATO-led international peacekeeping forces.
