NOV 25, 2004 (newstodate): The Hungarian state privatization and holding company will now take a fresh look at the aviation market conditions and decide on an eventual third attempt at privatising Malev.
Malev was first poised for privatisation in 1990, and the second unsuccessful tender was aborted on November 18 as the agency realised that no bidders lived up to the requirements.
Among these requirements is the demand to foot Malev's huge debt load in addition to invest in new capital and job securities.
These requirements tempted only four bidders that bought the tender materials. But none were found up to the harsh demands.
